We offer the Cox 7 Decompression Table, a special table that produces motions that are natural to the back. The table goes up and down (flexion and extension), side to side (lateral flexion), rotates, and can perform of all the previous simultaneously. Because all movements are slow and gentle, the therapy is suitable for everyone, even pregnant women, children and elderly patients.

At Mena Spine & Rehab, we strive to treat your injury or condition by treating the actual cause of the problem. Unlike medications that offer temporary relief from pain or an ailment, a chiropractic adjustment works on the cause so that you don’t only get temporary relief. We don’t rely on medications but rather the philosophy that keeping your body functioning properly will stop the pain that you’re complaining about as well as help to prevent various other ailments in the process. We are now offering Class IV Laser Therapy with actually helps your injuries heal rather than just masking the pain.

Mena Spine & Rehab's approach to chiropractic care includes massage therapy, disc decompression therapy, intersegmental traction, and nutrition, as well as exercise and rehabilitation equipment.

Decompression Services

New Therapy Offers Hope for
Herniated Disc Sufferers

Mena Spine & Rehab has formed a new specialized division offering Spinal Decompression Therapy to Polk County and area residents suffering from disc herniations.

Spinal Decompression Therapy is FDA cleared and has been clinically proven for pain associated with herniated or bulging discs even after failed surgery. It is a non-surgical, computerized traction therapy for the relief of back and leg pain or neck and arm pain.

During the procedure, by cycling through distraction and relaxation phases and by proper positioning, a spinal disc can be isolated and placed under negative pressure, causing a vacuum effect within it. The vacuum effect allows the disc component- that has protruded or herniated outside the normal confines of the disc – to be pulled back within the disc.

Dr. Kervin Putman, of Mena Spine & Rehab said, “The most exciting aspect about Spinal Decompression Therapy are the clinical studies that document its efficacy. One study reported the reduction of disc herniations – up to 90% documented by MRI – in the majority of cases and another study reported that the majority of ruptured disc patients achieved ‘good’ to ‘excellent’ results after spinal decompression therapy.”

Dr. Putman stressed the difference between regular traction and Spinal Decompression Therapy. “The traction head computer is the key. It controls the variations in the traction pull allowing for spinal decompression that eliminates muscle guarding that is typical in conventional traction devices. The preprogrammed patterns for ramping up and down the amount of axial distraction allows for higher levels of spinal decompression and disc rehydration.”

Dr. Putman added, “We chose the Kennedy Decompression system after a significant amount of research. With its unparalleled design and proven history, the Kennedy Decompression system is the ‘gold standard’ in decompressive traction therapy. We also selected this system because it can treat discs in both the neck and the low back.”

DIOWAVE Laser Therapy

What is the DIOWAVE LASER?

It’s an FDA cleared Class 4 prescription medical device.

It causes a photochemical reaction that increases ATP production (fuel of the cell). It is more powerful, which in turn delivers more energy to the treatment area.

DIOWAVE Laser Therapy is a safe and effective treatment to:
  • Reduce pain
  • Decrease inflammation
  • Enhance tissue healing of tissue and bone

How does DIOWAVE Laser Therapy work?
  • By enhancing arterial microcirculation which brings more red blood cells to the area.
  • Increases venous and lymphatic drainage from the area.
  • Increases oxygenation of the tissues.
  • Stimulates the hemoglobin molecule of the red blood cell to dump oxygen at the healing site (speeds up healing).
  • Increases the energy of injured or sick cells so they function at a higher level.

How long does a typical DIOWAVE Laser session last?
  • 10 to 20 minutes depending on the area and condition.

How many visits will it take?
  • Typically 6 to 12 visits. Pain may drop dramatically after 1 to2 visits. It is important to understand absence of pain does not mean the presence of health. There is still underlying tissue damage. Follow up with the recommended treatments.

When DIOWAVE Laser is used for disc decompression it:
  • Decreases inflammation internally.
  • Decreases tissue irritants (helps decrease pain).
  • Stimulates blood flow to the area to help the body heal the damaged disc.
